Hiya, I'm Martin from a town called Burnley in a county called Lancashire in a place called England.

I started this blog out of sheer boredom but am actually starting to really enjoy it.

I do a daily musical ~blast from the past~ where I share a song I have loved from every year of my life, up to the previous year where I then return to the mid 80s (when I was about 5) and repeat the sequence. This has got me thinking about things I had long forgotten about which is great!

I also do a song of the day which gives me a kick up the arse to keep listening to lots of music (not that I need one!).

Any other stuff I find interesting, pics, bits of writing etc are also posted.

So as you can see it's kind of a personal blog/diary really.. but if anyone wants to follow me that's fine... just don't follow me home.

邪不能勝正 - evil cannot surpass goodness

Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?' - Martin Luther King, Jr.

The only real prison is fear, and the only real freedom is freedom from fear.
- Aung San Suu Kyi

Information is not knowledge,
knowledge is not wisdom,
wisdom is not truth,
truth is not beauty,
beauty is not love,
love is not music,
music is the best. - FZ

The man that hath no music in himself,
Nor is not mov'd with concord of sweet sounds, Is fit for treasons, strategems, and spoils; The motions of his spirit are dull as night, And his affections dark as Erebus: Let no such man be trusted... Mark the music.
- The Merchant of Venice, Act V, Scene i

...the quality of randomness, spontaneity, surprise, unexpectedness and irrationality in our lives is a very precious thing and if you suppress that to have a nice orderly life, you kill off what's most important...
- Simon Jeffes

I don't want to sell my music. I'd like to give it away because where I got it, you didn't have to pay for it. - Don Van Vliet

I think people have had too much to think and ought to flex their magic muscles. It takes a while to get oriented to what I do, but people seem to be able to hear it if they give it a chance. I'd never just want to do what everybody else did. I'd be contributing to the sameness of everything. - Don Van Vliet

With the worldwide success of our Soulection Compilation Volume One which featured some of the most promising producers of our generation two years ago in January 2011, it was essential to create volume two. It’s amazing to reflect on our progression and how far we’ve come in just 730 days. Here we are after 25 releases later with our first official record! It has almost been a year since we started to compile this project. Since day one we’ve known that we would get to this very point.

These specific artists are all Soulection affiliated and we feel that every track on here has a “timeless’ feel to it. In fact, we feel that this record is one that you can play years and years down the line and still get that original feeling of when you first heard it. There tracks have no expiration date; styles that have no flow. This record was created and compiled to change your perspective on music and the future of where we are headed.

Stay doing what you love and remember that this is the sound. This is where it’s at!

Stay Conscious.

This incredible photo marks the end of Matador Torero Alvaro Munera’s career. He collapsed in remorse mid-fight when he realized he was having to prompt this otherwise gentle beast to fight. He went on to become an avid opponent of bullfights. Even grievously wounded by picadors, he did not attack this man.
Torrero Munera is quoted as saying of this moment: “And suddenly, I looked at the bull. He had this innocence that all animals have in their eyes, and he looked at me with this pleading. It was like a cry for justice, deep down inside of me. I describe it as being like a prayer - because if one confesses, it is hoped, that one is forgiven. I felt like the worst shit on earth.”
